Free home organization tools that tell you whether it fits

Every tool here works the same way. You enter what you measured in your own home, and what the listing in front of you publishes. The tool compares the two and tells you where that leaves you, and one of the answers it can give is that it cannot tell you yet.

None of these tools holds a single brand figure. That is deliberate. It means they work on any product you are looking at, and it means we are never the ones telling you how wide something is.

Two ways to check whether it fits

Start with the quick check when one measurement is the one you are unsure about. Use the full check when you have the whole set and you want the installation and the obstacles taken into account too.

Quick check: one dimension, two numbers

When one measurement is the one you are unsure about. It answers for that dimension alone and says so, because one dimension is never the whole answer.

Pick the one that worries you. Come back for the others.

At the tightest point, not the easiest one.

Copy the figure and note the label above it. Width and Depth are not always what you expect.

This answers for one dimension. It is not a verdict on the product, and it never will be: a piece that clears on depth still goes back if the width, the height or the wall fixing does not work. For the whole set, use the full check below.

Will it fit? Check before you order

Three measurements from your space, three figures from the listing. One of the answers this can give you is that we cannot answer yet.

The narrowest point, not the widest. Measure at the back as well as at the front.

Floor to the underside of whatever is above, at its lowest point.

From the back wall to the point where you would start turning sideways to get past.

Copy the figure, and note the label it sits under. Width and Depth are not always what you expect.

Assembled height, not boxed height.

How far it sticks out from the wall once it is together.

A pipe, a baseboard, a door or a vent changes the number you should have measured.

Read the safety or assembly section of the page, not the marketing text.

If you rent, check your lease before you answer yes.

Nothing here is a published figure of ours. You enter what you measured and what the page in front of you publishes, and the tool compares the two. It works on any brand because it holds no brand data at all.
